NFL suspends former San Francisco 49ers safety Tashaun Gipson Sr. for six games
The NFL has suspended former San Francisco 49ers safety Tashaun Gipson Sr. for six games for violating its performance-enhancing drug policy. The announcement was made on Tuesday by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Gipson played for the 49ers for the past two seasons, joining the team in 2022 and re-signing in 2023 on a one-year, $2.9 million deal. During the last season, he started in all 16 games for San Francisco, accumulating 60 tackles, one sack, and one interception. He also started in all three playoff games, including the Super Bowl LVIII loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, where he recorded five tackles.
The suspension of Gipson means that he will miss out on playing at least four regular-season games with the team this year. However, he can appeal his suspension within ten days of receiving it and may be able to reduce its length or even have it overturned entirely if his appeal is successful.
