The rookie, who played one year at USC before being selected as the No. 55 pick by the Lakers, will have a team option for the fourth year of his contract. Despite missing part of his first college season due to a heart condition, James showed promise in the games he played for the Trojans, averaging 4.8 points and 2.8 rebounds.
