600,000 donated to honor murdered police officer Rouven L. in Mannheim

The recent tragic death of a police officer in Mannheim has deeply affected the community. Following the fatal knife attack, a large sum of money, totaling around 600,000 euros, was donated on the internet platform gofundme.com to support the family of Rouven L., who was killed in the incident.

The Alliance of Blumberg Evidence Preservation and Arrest Unit, a group formed by federal police officers, initiated the fundraising campaign shortly after the incident. The alliance was established to provide assistance to colleagues affected by tragedies such as the fatal helicopter collision in Berlin in 2013.

The Federal Prosecutor’s Office has charged the perpetrator with murder and other charges following Rouven L.’s death on May 31st at Mannheim market square. Sulaiman A., a 25-year-old Afghan man, was responsible for the attack.

The Baden-Württemberg Police Foundation is collaborating with the alliance to manage donations and support colleagues in Mannheim’s affected squad. The foundation will also use some of these funds to support Rouven L.’s family directly, working closely with his lawyer.
