Catawba Science Center to Debut Exciting New Space Exhibit on July 10

The Catawba Science Center is thrilled to announce the launch of a new exhibit on July 10, 2024. The exhibit, titled “Expanding Horizons: The Solar System & Beyond,” will be a permanent addition to the Hall of Astronomy, located near the Millholland Planetarium. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore our solar system, dive deep into space travel, and learn about the future of space exploration through the use of new technology.

One of the immersive pieces in the exhibit is a Mars pod, allowing visitors to experience what it would be like to live on the Red Planet. For those curious about what a journey to Mars would entail, the new planetarium show “Destination Mars” is a must-see. Sponsored by John and Eileen Leach, this captivating show offers a close-up view of humanity’s ambitious mission to Mars. Narrated by former NASA astronaut Mae Jemison, this show is not to be missed.

This exhibit was made possible with the support of our presenting sponsors. We extend our gratitude to the Candler Foundation, the Cannon Foundation, the George Foundation, the TSH Charitable Foundation, and the North Carolina Science Museums Grant Program for their contributions.

The Catawba Science Center is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and Sundays from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. More information about
