In the coming years, the Oakland Athletics will be playing at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento before their move to Las Vegas. However, before they can officially make the stadium their temporary home, they must ensure that it meets league standards set by the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA).
Sutter Health Park, which is currently home to the Sacramento River Cats, is undergoing a multi-million dollar facilities renovation. The Sacramento Kings, who operate the ballpark, are modifying it to meet MLB standards, including upgrading LED lighting and adding an additional clubhouse.
The MLBPA has had preliminary discussions with MLB regarding the A’s temporary relocation to Sutter Health Park. They expect these discussions to continue in order to ensure that the stadium meets league standards for the A’s to play there during the 2025-2027 seasons. The union will need to sign off on improvements made to the clubhouses, weight rooms, field, and other amenities in order for Sutter Health Park to be deemed suitable for MLB play.
