On April 15, leaders from McLeod Regional Medical Center and Workforce Development came together with Horry Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) for a check presentation. During the event, McLeod Health announced that they have pledged $375,000 to support the new Nursing & Health Sciences Institute at the Grand Strand Campus of HGTC.
Monica Vehige, CEO of McLeod Loris Seacoast, expressed her organization’s dedication to preparing a skilled healthcare workforce through their partnership with HGTC. She emphasized that by investing in nursing and allied health programs, they are not only ensuring the graduation of high-quality professionals but also contributing to the overall health and vitality of the community.
The objectives of the HGTC Nursing & Health Sciences Institute are ambitious. They aim to create a world-class simulation learning environment, increase nursing enrollment to 600 students by 2030, offer valuable clinical rotation and internship opportunities, and attract top-tier healthcare faculty to HGTC. This partnership highlights the commitment of both organizations to advancing healthcare education and workforce development in the region.
