As reported by The Wall Street Journal, NATO countries are taking steps to help Ukraine in the event of a Donald Trump victory in the upcoming US presidential election. One of these measures includes sending a senior civilian official to Ukraine to coordinate the delivery of military aid to the Kiev government. Additionally, a headquarters will be set up in Wiesbaden, Germany, to oversee the delivery of military equipment, weapons, and training to the Ukrainian armed forces. These efforts aim to align the equipment and training of the Ukrainian forces more closely with that of NATO armies.
Outgoing NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has proposed an annual commitment of 40 billion euros for Ukraine as part of long-term financial support. Although Ukraine will not receive an invitation to join the alliance during a summit from July 9-11, sources indicate that NATO members are expected to establish a “roadmap” for Ukraine’s potential accession as a demonstration of their backing for the process.
