New Parking Spaces and Expansion Plans at Jacksonville International Airport for Busy Summer Travel Season

Jacksonville International Airport recently opened new parking spaces in Economy Lot 3 in preparation for the busy summer holiday travel season. The airport has always faced full parking lots during peak travel times and has been working to expand parking options ahead of the opening of a third concourse in mid-2025.

With the construction of Concourse B underway, the airport added several hundred new spaces to Economy Lot 3. This lot is typically busiest during the holiday season and summer months when travel is at its peak. The addition of 400 public spaces and employee parking helps to meet the increasing demand for parking at the airport.

In addition to the new parking spaces, about 800 employee parking spots have been relocated to Economy Lot 3. The airport is also in the process of designing a new parking garage, which is expected to be completed in early 2026 and will add approximately 2,000 parking spaces.

Travelers are advised to arrive at the airport at least two hours before their departure time, especially during busy travel periods like Independence Day and holiday weekends. On July 3, the airport saw 12,500 travelers, with thousands more expected in the following days. With the new parking options and ongoing construction, Jacksonville International Airport is working to accommodate the growing number of travelers passing through its terminals.

The addition of new public and employee parking spaces in Economy Lot 3 will help alleviate congestion in other areas of the terminal during peak travel times. Travelers who need longer-term parking can now take advantage of this additional space while still being close enough to walk or take a shuttle to their gate.

The construction of Concourse B also brings with it additional benefits for passengers traveling through Jacksonville International Airport. With more capacity on offer, passengers can expect shorter wait times for flights and easier access to amenities such as shops and restaurants.

Overall, these changes will make traveling through Jacksonville International Airport smoother and more convenient for everyone involved.

As we approach summer vacation season, it’s important for travelers to plan ahead when it comes to their transportation needs at Jacksonville International Airport. With record-breaking passenger numbers already seen on July 3rd alone, it’s clear that demand for flights out of this city continues to grow rapidly.

In order to ensure a seamless experience for all passengers this summer vacation season, we encourage anyone planning a trip from Jacksonville International Airport to book their transportation well ahead of time. This includes reserving rental cars or pre-booking shuttle services with companies such as Uber or Lyft.
