Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone Defies Expectations with Record-Breaking Performance at U.S. Olympic Team Trials

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone has once again made headlines by breaking her own world record in the 400m hurdles at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Oregon. With a time of 50.65, she secured her spot at the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024, putting her ahead of her Dutch rival, Femke Bol.

McLaughlin-Levrone dominated the race from start to finish, leading from the first hurdle and never looking back. The crowd at Hayward Field cheered her on as she crossed the finish line in record-breaking time. Reflecting on her achievement, McLaughlin-Levrone expressed surprise and gratitude, noting that she knew she was capable of a time in the 50.5 range.

Following closely behind was Anna Cockrell who finished second while Jasmine Jones came in third place. Despite finishing sixth, Rio 2016 champion Dalilah Muhammad announced that this would be her final U.S. Trials. McLaughlin-Levrone remains focused on continued improvement and exploring different strategies for her race.
